Day 8- Forgive Yourself
Guilt, mistakes, shame, the past...these things are H-E-A-V-Y! If you lug all these things around you get to your destination a lot slower, that is if you can even make it as you have to carry this heavy load. You also enjoy the journey a lot less with the heavy load. A big way to show ourselves more self compassion is to forgive ourselves and to let go. It is so easy for us to believe that the right thing to do is to harp on those mistakes we make in order to not make them again. We think if we hold onto them we are doing the right thing by giving ourselves consequences... holding ourselves accountable for our wrongdoings. However, have you ever thought about what happens when you do this? What happens when you continue to carry around this guilt? What happens when you don’t just let it go and forgive yourself? I know you guys all have experience with this. You know what happens. What happens is we jeopardize our future happiness! We pave the way with how we choose to move on from mistakes. So for today, the challenge is to change the way we carry that guilt and move on. Practice forgiveness and see where it takes you.
